And all is well with the world
The Peregrines are in the spires
There is extra sauce in the falafel wraps
Tylenol Codeine and stick have gifted me with
Days not giving a shit
Apart from the moody shift of seasons
And sunsets inhaled through flickering trees
God this is all so lovely
When the pain subsides
Stick is my new and dearest friend
Conferring on me, the kindliness of strangers
A multitude of thoughtful gestures
That I had not experienced when I was true and firm of gait
Other stick people are keen to share their tales of hip replacements
Isn’t it wonderful
When you have stick
The world expects so little of you
And that suits me fine
Because I expect so little of it.
